Recently, I had a plumbing issue at the house. It was such a pain and I was actually amazed how hard it was to get the help I needed. All I wanted was someone competent and professional to answer the phone and show up when they said they would show up. It didn’t seem like too much to ask.
And yet, apparently, this isn’t easy to come by.
The whole ordeal got me thinking about eDiscovery and my own place in the industry. I thought, at the end of the day, I just want my company to be like the plumber I had so much difficulty finding. I want to build a company that’s helpful. I want to answer the phone when you have an issue and show up to solve your problem. Because really, eDiscovery isn’t that different than plumbing. It isn’t glamorous, but it’s essential and you only really have to think about it when something goes wrong. Maybe more to the point, when you find someone that shows up and gets the job done, you go back to them again and again. That’s what I want Lucent to be – the company you depend on without even thinking about it.
